There are nearly a thousand hotels in Madrid, with most being spread out well into the suburbs. Finding the perfect hotel by going through a list of all of them takes many hours and still leaves you unsure of your decision because it’s hard to know whom to trust.
Because of this situation we’ve gone through and highlighted six of the best hotels in Madrid, each in a different price range. All of these hotels offer quite good value compared to their competition, and all are among the highest rated by past guests.
Each of these hotels listed below are also within walking distance of Madrid’s center so you will be able to reach all the main sights easily and cheaply. Finding a cheap hotel on a huge list isn’t difficult, but finding a cheap one with an excellent location that gets very high ratings is more difficult.

6 Highly recommended Madrid hotels
Note: Hotel “starting at” prices listed below were the cheapest I could find for each hotel, usually for a single room. It’s likely your dates will show higher prices, especially for a double room, but this doesn’t mean it’s not a great deal. Please compare prices you are quoted to prices of similar hotels and you’ll usually find that these are bargains.
Oriente Hostal Madrid – 3*
–Amazing location in this price range–

The rooms here are relatively small and simple, with a bed and cable TV plus en-suite bathroom in each. Some guests say the walls are a bit thin and that neighbors can be a bit loud so if you are a light and early sleeper this place might not be ideal. The reception also isn’t always a fluent English speaker, but aside from those things this place gets rave reviews and is fantastic value in the lower price range.

Hotel Exe Suites 33 Hotel Madrid – 3*
–Great value for larger rooms–

With larger than average rooms that are kept spotless this is a popular hotel and it gets very high ratings in TripAdvisor as well. There’s free wi-fi throughout the hotel and a plasma TV and a kitchenette in each of the 33 rooms. During busy periods the prices will be higher, but online specials during the slower periods put this into the extreme bargain range.

Liabeny Hotel Madrid – 4*
–4-star business hotel with great special rates–

As you’d expect from a 4-star business-oriented hotel, the staff here is quite large and they do a very good job of looking after all guests, mostly with good English language skills. During busy periods and especially when there are meetings or conventions in Madrid this place might be quite expensive, but during slow periods this place is a steal.

The rooms here are unusually large, and unlike many others in this city they feature double-pane windows so they are quiet at night as well. You also get a free minibar loaded with some drinks, a plasma flat-screen TV, and free wi-fi in each room. The staff here get rave reviews from all guests, so combining that with the excellent location and luxury amenities you can’t go wrong here if you can afford it. The online special rates put this into the mid-range for Madrid, making it a fantastic bargain for being so popular and highly rated.

Gran Melia Fenix Hotel – 5*
–Good specials at a solid 5-star–

While not in the heart of the main tourist district, it’s within walking distance of the city center as well as the Prado Museum and others in that district. There’s also a metro stop nearby so it’s easy enough to reach anything if you aren’t in the mood for a lovely stroll through an upscale neighborhood. The cheapest rooms overlook the hotel’s courtyard so they are extremely quiet as well. Each room comes with a 37″ plasma TV, free wi-fi, a minibar, and an iPod docking station. During slower periods the online rates here are excellent.

Adler Hotel Madrid – 5*
–5-star boutique hotel is affordable luxury–

The rooms are larger than average for a city center hotel, and each comes equipped with a plasma TV and DVD player, free wi-fi, a desk, and a minibar. The best feature according to most past guests, however, is the fantastic service. As a smaller luxury hotel there are always enough staff around to help with any request. Considering this is among the nicest hotels in Madrid, the prices are quite reasonable.
