Cheap hotels are available, but standards for those appear to be rather low, so many travelers will need to pay for 3-star and above places just to feel comfortable.
Hotels in Dakar have their high season from November through February, when temperatures are reasonable and there’s almost no rainfall. This is also when all the music and cultural festivals take place. The low season is during the rainy period from June through September.

Dakar’s location out on the Cap-Vert Peninsula keeps its temperatures more moderate than most other African cities in the region. There’s a short rainy season from early July to mid September that provides nearly all the annual rainfall. Otherwise temperatures are warm most days and mild to warm most nights of the year.
