Fez (known as Fès in French) is one of Morocco’s most famous cities for tourists and it’s a must-see on any itinerary spending more than a few days in the country. Compared to Spain this city is quite cheap and compared to most of the rest of Europe it’s a fantastic bargain.

Hotels in Fez run a huge gamut in price and quality, so be warned that at the low end of the scale you might be shocked at the low standards of the place you’ve booked. Paying a bit more usually gets you something respectable, and paying nearer the top end will get you fantastic luxury.
Hotels in Fez run from very basic and cheap to very luxurious and expensive and you tend to get what you pay for. The hotel seasons aren’t too strict from one place to the next, but generally speaking the super hot summer months from around mid June through mid September are the low season, and the rest of the year is high season.
The best time to visit is probably either in spring or autumn, as the summers can be so brutal here that you might not want to spend much time checking out the sights, which are almost all outdoors and of course, not air conditioned.

Fes is at the base of the Atlas Mountains, and that keeps the climate cooler and more moderate than you might expect for such a famous desert city. Winters are rather cool, but rarely unpleasantly so. Summers are typically hot, with July and August being the peak months. Humidity during this time of year can make it downright awful so if you are coming in mid summer it’s essential to find a place with air conditioning.
Spring and autumn are typically the best times of year to visit, with warm days and cool evenings, but winter time is fine too as long as you aren’t planning on doing any sunbathing.
